1) The Comparison Game The Game You Can Never Win

2) Feelings Candy World A Free Telehealth Game

3) Nightmare Ninja: CBT Counseling Game

4) Soothe Your Soul A Coping Skill Counseling Game

5) Share Your Heart with Those You Love Counseling Game

1) The Comparison Game The Game You Can Never Win

The Comparison Game uses cognitive-behavioral concepts to help children identify how to stop intrusive thoughts of comparison and to focus thoughts on being content. When you compare yourself to those you think you are better than, you come across as arrogant and rude.  When you compare yourself to those who have more, it ignites jealousy and discontent.  Either way, you lose. This game helps children evaluate their own attitudes and recognize ways to be content with what they have and value the differences between people.

Since it is a game you can never win, the game board is designed in a circle with no ending available. This helps drive home the point that comparing yourself to others never pays. The game can be played in individual, group, or family sessions.

2) Feelings Candy World A Free Telehealth Game

Feelings Candy World is a telehealth game to allow children to process emotions.  You will receive a link to the Google Slides document. It will have you save a copy to your google drive.  You can then use that link each time you play the game, or you can redownload the game for a fresh copy if desired.  A tutorial is included, explaining a basic overview of how to use Google Slides as well as sharing via a telehealth platform.

3) Nightmare Ninja: CBT Counseling Game

Ninja Nightmare is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy board game designed to help children process nightmares to reduce their occurrence.  It incorporates techniques from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. This game will help children become more comfortable talking about their fears and the details of their nightmares.  They can rescript the nightmare to imagine a hero coming in to save them.

This game also teaches coping skills.  The child will learn to calm self through visualization, thought stopping and replacement, and through making behavioral changes to avoid triggers to nightmares.  As with most therapy games, incorporating these skills in a game format will help to bypass defense mechanisms and help the child feel more at ease disclosing frightening information.

4) Soothe Your Soul A Coping Skill Counseling Game

Soothe Your Soul is a CBT counseling game to teach and implement coping skills. The “Mental Escape” cards help children learn to use visualization skills to calm self and regain control over emotions. The “Talk it Out” card focuses on healthy communication skills and helps children recognize the benefits of talking through difficult emotions. The “Relax Your Body” cards teach progressive relaxation as well as offering other ways to relax your body when stressed or emotionally out of control.  Finally, the “Coping Strategies” cards incorporate various coping skills and prompt children to think through how to utilize these skills.  This game can be used in individual, group, or family counseling.

5) Share Your Heart with Those You Love Counseling Game

This game is designed to help children communicate affection to those they love, develop boundaries within relationships, and address fears related to rejection or loss of relationships.  Children will have the opportunity to role-play and discuss how to communicate affection appropriately and the importance of communicating emotions to loved ones.  The game addresses social skills and friendship development and can be helpful in family situations to enhance communication.

This is a versatile game that can be used in individual, group, or family sessions.  It can be used with small children with more explanation of concepts.  This game is intended to be used by a licensed professional counselor or social worker
